Pretty boring window seat but great architectural feature….finally re designing our daughter Presley’s room and had some left over wood plank mdf boards from the nursery walls (blog post on wood plank walls soon to come). This window seat also had a can light previously and we wanted to change it to a decorative chandelier, the wood planking helped us to hide the larger hole from the can light and install something special for our daughter.
1. Simply cut and nail up the wood plank boards. Caulk the corners and edges, and paint.
2. Add your light: This light was only $39 from Ikea and suits a little girls bedroom perfectly!
3. Decorate! These soft pink cottage style curtains are from target.com but I could not find any in stock so I ordered them from Ebay. I also ordered an extra curtain panel and used the fabric to make a pillow sham for the bed. The throw pillows are from TJ Maxx and obviously I had to add a Minnie Mouse stuffed animal, it was the first thing my daughter ran to when we did her bedroom reveal.
This window seat is now more whimsical and girly and perfect for Presley’s room. The wood plank ceiling helped us define the space and gave us the opportunity to add the light fixture. I always wanted a window seat as a little girl and I’m so happy I got to create this for my daughter!
